ALDERBURY BOWLS CLUB(Brief History of the Club)

Alderbury is a friendly, village, mixed bowling club which promotes the game of lawn bowls at all levels, providing the community with the chance to enjoy the sport and play in competitive and recreational matches.

The club offers membership to young (8 years) or old and is pleased to give new bowlers the chance to try the sport on our club nights, or by appointment. We pride ourselves on our equal opportunities policy and have facilities for the disabled.

The club is associated to:

                                Bowls England.

                                Bowls Wiltshire

                                Salisbury and District League

                                Westbrook Mixed Triples League

During the bowling season (April to Mid September) Tuesday is club night starting at 6.15pm. Anyone, regardless of ability and who is interested in trying the sport, is very welcome.

Help is always on hand and bowls are available.  If you wish to try and cannot make Tuesdays, alternative arrangements can be made through the club secretary. (Kay Robinson on 07932 151788), (President & Ladies' Captain-Sandie Jenkins 07775 744095) email: alderburybowlsclub@gmail.com

In the closed season (Mid  September to March) club night is Thursday, when a skittle league of local teams play. Again, anyone wishing to enter a team is welcome and in this instance should contact the organiser -

(Colin Webber on 01722 710940) or email:  webber996@btinternet.com

We also hold a variety of other activities during the year, including quiz nights - with a supper, coffee mornings and midday lunches.   All  of these activities are advertised locally and on this website.  These are open events not just for members but for all the local and surrounding village communities. So why don't you come along and spend a couple of enjoyable hours in pleasant and warm surroundings and have a chat and a laugh and see what else the club has to offer.  (History of the Club)

In addition to the above we do hire out the club for  recreational or educational events and for private functions. Anyone wishing to do so should contact  Margaret Webber on 01722 710940 or by email: mwebber@icloud.com

Alderbury welcomes Touring Teams

The club is situated in the village of Alderbury, 4 miles  to the south east of Salisbury, off the A36 Salisbury to Southampton Road. The Alderbury Bowling Club and green is in the heart of the village, behind the village hall. This is ideally situated for visiting teams.

We have  a very comfortable club house with a well stocked licensed bar which is open before, during and after the match.  Tea and biscuits can also be provided if required.  There is parking for both cars and coaches on site.

The village has two public houses which serve lunches and evening meals. There are also many suitable places to stay and eat within the local area of Salisbury.  If you are looking for places to visit whilst on tour, then a stay over in Salsibury is a must; with visits to our beautiful cathedral and of course a bus tour of the famous Stonehenge.
